  1. Preschool children will learn better in a calm environment. A calm and peaceful environment in preschool settings lays a foundation for better learning of both academic and social skills. For example: setting up a peaceful corner or resting area. Having a scenic print hanging at the child's eye level. A teacher can also consider a zen garden.

  2. The structure of the physical school and classroom environment contributes to effective educational programming and support for students with disabilities. For example: provide an area for one on one instructions with teacher. There should also be an area for students to go and play games that will develop social and motor skills.

  3. I believe it's important for children to have a space where they can feel calm and peaceful and have a time where they can just relax and enjoy a book.Or even having a water fountain where children can hear the water running. I believe it helps them stay more focused and they can develop different skills. Just like us adults enjoy a little space to be alone I think it's critical for children as well. Calming waters is an awesome way for children and also having himalayan lamps are also a great in their environment also promotes health benefits.

  4. There is an area in a classroom of a center where the teacher has a corner where children can sit down and look at books if they need to be redirected in a situation where they are fighting or arguing with one of their peers teacher tells them to go and relax in the "book corner" as she calls it. Good idea for their relaxation mode. This image is a sample.

  5. A preschool environment should be calm and soothing. Creating a peaceful environment should be a place where children have the opportunity to explore and have their age appropriate materials. Children should have space where they can be alone if they want to have "alone time" to relax or to calm down. They should have a connection with nature such as having nature materials in class such as rocks, shells, a class pet and have enough time of outdoor play.

  6. Creating environments that support students learning and development is paramount for growth and learning. a calming and soothing environment allows for children with disabilities to thrive and results in a positive experience. For example a child with autism does not need to be overloaded with loud, noisy room and color may even impact their behavior. One article found on the effects of color is www.natefacs.org

  7. My calm and soothing area was the library. The children know to respect that area and are not allowed to use loud voices. When the children get upset I would guide them to the calm area and let them relax. It was very welcoming to the children. I had cube in the corner with a pillow inside, couch by the bookshelf and I had a Huge pillow (dog pillow best things every) where the children could relax. I had random stuff animals there too. The children liked this area a lot! It help many of my children to calm down when having a hard time. http://prekese.dadeschools.net/_images/Galleries/AdaptationStation/pbs/safeplace.jpg
